Singapore Solar Exchange Pte Ltd (SSX) was founded in 2010 as a spin-off of Ginga Petroleum Pte Ltd, the then world’s largest independent energy commodity brokerage firm.

Today, SSX is a specialist provider of solar and BESS market intelligence, helping industry professionals navigate pricing, market developments, and commercial risk with greater confidence.

About SSX Founder & CEO

Sakura Yamasaki

Sakura Yamasaki founded SSX in 2010 while serving as Head of Business Development at Ginga Petroleum, then the world’s largest independent energy commodity financial brokerage firm.
SSX was incorporated as a subsidiary of Ginga and represented the group’s first move into renewable energy trading.
By combining timely market information with practical deal-making, SSX played a pioneering role in the development of the solar spot trading market, helping connect participants and improve market liquidity.
Following a management buyout in 2022, Sakura became the owner and CEO of SSX, leading the company into its current phase focused on solar and BESS market intelligence, forward pricing visibility, and market access.
With over 15 years of experience in the solar industry, Sakura’s work is centred on helping project developers, suppliers, and market participants better manage price uncertainty through market intelligence and solar panel price hedging support.
Originally from Lyon, France, Sakura has an international academic background, having completed her BA in Japan, MA in the Netherlands, and PhD in political science across Belgium and Switzerland.
She has been based in Singapore since 2008.
